About This Spot

Stepping into Warung Bukit Pemuteran feels like discovering a quiet retreat nestled just off the beaten path—a place where the slow rhythms of village life meet the simple art of thoughtful cooking. Situated down a peaceful lane away from the hum of busy streets, the warung invites you to leave the noise behind and settle into a space that hums softly with warmth and unhurried calm. The gentle chorus of nature around you—the distant chirp of frogs, the rustling of leaves—complements the welcoming, intimate vibe inside.

This small family-run restaurant carries a sense of harmony that goes beyond its menu. Watching the family members come together in the kitchen offers a glimpse into a deeply rooted tradition of care, where every plate arrives with a quiet sense of pride and connection. The pace here encourages you to linger, to savor each bite and moment.

The food echoes this thoughtful mood. Fresh fish, prepared with local flavors and subtle balances, honors the bounty of the sea and earth alike—whether it’s a simply grilled tuna with a gentle kick of sambal or a comforting bowl of rich, spiced soup. Some dishes play with contrast, like the unexpected pairing of grilled pineapple alongside creamy vanilla ice cream, sparking moments of surprise that are as genuine as the surroundings. Vegetarian and vegan options thoughtfully reflect the inclusive spirit of the place, catering to varied palates without losing the authentic feel.

Warung Bukit is not a rush; it’s a pause. It offers a setting where the clatter of cutlery and murmurs of conversation blend effortlessly with nature’s soundtrack. It’s the kind of spot that invites you to settle in quietly, share a meal that tastes like home, and think about how sometimes the smallest places hold the richest stories.

Incredible food and Balinese owned! Nice job guys. I especially loved the grilled pineapple with vanilla ice-cream. Mind blowing combo. Everything I had was delicious and I’d go back in a heartbeat. The restaurant is tucked up a quiet little lane about 50 metres off the main road, so they probably don’t get much foot traffic. I actually loved being away from the noise (I could hear frogs chirping and had the whole place to myself). As a solo female traveller I felt safe, so don’t be afraid of the lane way, just bring your phone light if it’s been raining, it’s unlit and can get a bit muddy.

Amazing good soup en very nice chicken Rendang and a perfect mie Goreng. Everything is prepared fresh and incredible tasty. The food is the price worth and everything is really relaxing. We would really recommend this restaurant.

Friendly service and a quiet, welcoming vibe. The homemade fish cakes were fresh but could use more flavour, maybe some herbs would’ve helped. The white fish main with coconut sauce was well cooked but a bit bland. Still, a pleasant spot and I’d come back.

We came back and Warung Bukit is still a magical place. It reminds me the movie Ratatouille and Anton Ego. Ego wrote in the movie - “Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.” The Warung Bukit is a small family business. Very nice to see when the family members arrive to help the chef father. And the result is full of the family care and harmony. I had chance to eat many dinner (10+) here. I never had a bad choice. The food always was very tasty with vibrant flavors. The tuna with potato volcano,, cap cay, Nicosia tuna salat, tomato soup etc. No bad option in the menu. Very good food with the love and care of mums and grandmas. Thanks Bukit family.

I had the pleasure of dining at Warung Bukit while staying at the connected accommodation, Oma In Guest House, and I was thrilled to discover that they offer a dedicated vegan menu (see pictured)! We were quite hungry, so we started by sharing the Vietnamese Spring Rolls. They were fresh, light, and the perfect appetizer to kick things off. For mains, I opted for the Burmese, a dish I hadn’t tried before. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! It was full of flavor—salty and delicious, with the tempe adding a great texture. My partner had the Balinese Vegetable Curry, which I tasted as well. It was rich, flavorful, and she was very, very pleased with it. After our meal, we were offered dessert. We mentioned that we were vegan, and the server recommended the Black Rice Pudding from the menu. It was a sweet, satisfying end to a fantastic meal. The only downside was that there was no music playing when we were there. Overall, I’m really happy with the experience here! Great food and a solid vegan selection. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

We stayed in Pemuteran for almost a month and we were coming back here a looot of times. Food and service are super good. This place has an amazing sense of flavour and all souses were really good. The best place for fresh fish and salads. All meals from photos were amazing

Sometimes you stumble into a little warung you might have easily passed by – and that’s exactly where you end up having the perfect dinner. That’s what happened to us tonight at Warung Bukit. We started with a Tom Yum soup that woke us up instantly: bold, spicy, tangy – every note exactly where it should be. Not some watered-down version, but a real statement that made you crave the next spoonful. Then came the Pepes Ikan: fish steamed in banana leaf, tender inside, packed with herbs and flavor outside. Every bite felt like a little firework – perfectly seasoned, no extras needed. The fried pineapple was the sweet joker of the evening: caramelized, warm, juicy – dessert and tropical mood all in one. Alongside, a mixed salad kept things fresh and balanced, so we didn’t completely drown in the spice waves. All of it was served with a smile as genuine as the food itself. No fuss, no pretense – just honest cooking, lovingly prepared and brought straight to the table. We left full, happy, and with a big grin on our faces. In short: Warung Bukit is one of those places you don’t forget – and that you hope will never change

Warung Bukit is a must-try if you are in Pemuteran. My husband and I stayed at the adjoining guest house, Oma In, for two weeks, and we rarely ate elsewhere because of how good the food is at the warung. Every meal that Chef Ketut prepares is 10/10. Our favorites were the fresh grilled fish, chicken rendang, and ceviche, but there truly aren’t any misses (including the western dishes, which are equally as delicious). Ketut and his family are the kindest and make every patron feel at home. You’ll probably be greeted by a friendly cat as well. Sometimes you can expect a longer wait during peak dinner times, but it’s 100% worth it. Relax and enjoy a meal made with love — it might just be the best you’ve had in Bali.
